Course Description
The GDPR Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO) training course enables you to develop the competence to serve as a Data Protection Officer under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You will master the GDPR's requirements and principles, DPO designation and operations, data protection impact assessments, compliance program management, and incident handling procedures. The course covers the complete DPO lifecycle from designation and relationship with top management through operational activities including DPIA, documentation management, data protection controls evaluation, and continual improvement of GDPR compliance. Practical exercises based on real-world scenarios help you develop hands-on competence. The exam covers 3 competency domains: data protection concepts and GDPR compliance measures, roles and responsibilities for GDPR compliance, and technical and organizational protective measures. Certification levels: Provisional DPO (no experience), Data Protection Officer (2 years, 200 hours), Senior DPO (5 years, 300 hours).

Course Modules
Day 1: Introduction to GDPR Concepts and Principles
Training objectives; GDPR overview; core data protection principles (lawfulness, fairness, transparency, purpose limitation, data minimization, accuracy, storage limitation, integrity, accountability); key definitions and regulatory landscape; and introduction to the compliance framework.
Day 2: Designation of the DPO and Compliance Program Analysis
DPO designation, tasks, independence, and organizational positioning; relationship with top management; data protection policy development; register of processing activities; risk management process for personal data; and compliance program analysis.
Day 3: DPO Operations
Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) methodology; documentation management; evaluation of data protection controls; data protection and technology (privacy by design, privacy by default); awareness, training, and communication programs; and international data transfers.
Day 4: Monitoring and Continual Improvement of GDPR Compliance
Incident management and personal data breach notification (72-hour rule); monitoring and measuring compliance; data protection internal audit; treatment of nonconformities; continual improvement of compliance programs; and supervisory authority cooperation.
Day 5: Certification Exam
Review of key concepts and the PECB Certified Data Protection Officer examination. The exam covers 3 competency domains: data protection concepts, GDPR, and compliance measures; roles and responsibilities for GDPR compliance; and technical and organizational protective measures.
