Day 1: US Privacy Landscape and Federal Regulations
Overview of US federal privacy laws (HIPAA, FERPA, COPPA, GLBA); regulatory bodies (FTC, HHS); enforcement trends; and the sectoral approach to privacy.
Day 2: CCPA/CPRA and California Privacy Compliance
California Consumer Privacy Act and CPRA enhancements; consumer rights; business obligations; opt-out mechanisms; data processing agreements; and enforcement.
Day 3: HIPAA and Healthcare Privacy
HIPAA Privacy Rule; Security Rule; administrative, physical, and technical safeguards; breach notification requirements; and enforcement actions.
Day 4: State Privacy Laws and Privacy Program Management
Emerging state privacy regulations (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, etc.); cross-state compliance strategies; privacy program establishment; privacy impact assessments; and vendor management.
Day 5: Certification Exam
Review of key concepts and the PECB Certified US Data Privacy Officer certification examination.
