PECB certifications are recognized worldwide and demonstrate that professionals have met rigorous competency requirements.
PECB offers five credential levels: Introduction (awareness-level knowledge), Foundation (fundamental understanding), Lead Implementer (ability to implement management systems), Lead Auditor (ability to audit management systems), and Master (highest-level expertise combining implementation and auditing skills).
The timeline varies by credential level. Foundation certifications can be completed in a few weeks of eLearning plus the exam. The entire process from training to certification usually takes 4-8 weeks.
Most PECB certifications are valid for 3 years; Foundation and Transition certificates do not expire. To maintain a 3-year certification you must complete Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities — 60 hours per cycle for Implementer, Auditor, Manager and Risk Manager credentials, and 90 hours for Lead credentials. This includes attending training, conferences, publishing articles, or completing relevant professional activities that demonstrate ongoing competency.
Yes, PECB credentials follow a progression path. After obtaining a Foundation credential, you can advance to Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor by completing the relevant training course, passing the exam, and meeting the professional experience requirements for that level.
Foundation exams are typically multiple-choice format lasting 1-2 hours. Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor exams are multiple-choice, lasting 3 hours (open book), and test your ability to apply knowledge in practical scenarios. All exams are conducted under PECB's strict proctoring standards.
The passing score for PECB exams is 70%. Foundation exams require achieving 70% on the multiple-choice questions. Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor exams are multiple-choice and open book, also requiring 70% to pass.
If you don't pass on your first attempt, you must wait 15 days after the initial exam date before your first retake. PECB allows multiple retake attempts. We also offer additional exam preparation support for participants who need further assistance before retaking.
