Course Description
The ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer training course enables you to develop the competence to lead the implementation and management of an Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) based on ISO/IEC 42001. You will master the planning, implementation, operation, and continual improvement of an AIMS, including AI governance frameworks, AI-specific risk management, and responsible AI controls. The course provides comprehensive coverage of the ISO/IEC 42001 requirements and Annex A controls for responsible AI development and deployment. Through practical exercises and case studies, you will develop hands-on skills in AI risk assessment, data quality management, model lifecycle governance, and transparency requirements. The exam covers 6 competency domains: fundamental principles and concepts of an AIMS, AIMS requirements, planning of an AIMS implementation, implementation of an AIMS, monitoring and measurement of an AIMS, and continual improvement and preparation for certification audit. Training materials contain over 400 pages of information. Exam and certification fees are included.

Course Modules
Day 1: Introduction to ISO/IEC 42001 and Initiation of an AIMS Implementation
Training objectives and structure; ISO/IEC 42001 framework and requirements; AIMS fundamentals and relationship with other management systems (ISO 27001, ISO 9001); organizational context and scope analysis; AI policy development; regulatory landscape including EU AI Act.
Day 2: Planning of an AIMS Implementation
AI risk assessment methodology; risk identification for AI systems (bias, fairness, transparency, safety); risk treatment and control selection from Annex A; AI impact assessment; data governance planning; and stakeholder engagement.
Day 3: Implementation of an AIMS
Implementing AI-specific controls from Annex A; data quality management and lifecycle governance; model development, validation, and deployment controls; transparency and explainability requirements; human oversight mechanisms; and documentation management.
Day 4: AIMS Monitoring, Continual Improvement, and Certification Preparation
AIMS performance monitoring and measurement; AI system monitoring; internal audit procedures for AIMS; management review; treatment of nonconformities; continual improvement of AI governance; and preparing for the AIMS certification audit.
Day 5: Certification Exam
Review of key concepts and the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer examination. The exam covers 6 competency domains: fundamental principles of an AIMS, AIMS requirements, planning, implementation, monitoring and measurement, and continual improvement and certification preparation.
